1935 Gibson-made Kalamazoo KG – 11.

I’m dating this based on the suffix letter “A” at the end of the FON on the neck block. My research indicates this points to a 1935 year of production.

This one has just received a professional neck reset. Unlike most on the market, it does not suffer from unplayable high action or anything like that. Please keep this in mind when shopping around.

These were made during the depression as a budget conscious instrument in light of bad economic conditions. Although it goes by the label “Kalamazoo” these are actually made by the Gibson company. As most people know, the original Gibson factory was located in Kalamazoo, Michigan, hence the name.

These are similar in look to the L-00 guitars of the era but with some key differences. Similarities include the finish, neck shape and feel, and killer fire stripe pick guard. However, these guitars are ladder braced. This one has a very nice sound and resonance.

This one has a few marks, but I’m calling it. “excellent” due to the allowance we give to a nearly hundred-year-old instrument in using this design designation. This one has a few marks, but I’m calling “excellent“ due to the allowance we give to a nearly instrument in using this .

It still has the original Ebony nut and nylon saddle. The nylon saddle still has its original height, although there is some minor grooving where the strings rest. I have kept these intact because they are original. Many opt for bone replacements for even better sustain and resonance. But that’s up to you.

It will be packed with exceptional care. It will ship in a gig bag.
