1968 Martin 000-18
This 1968 Martin 000-18 is the nicest-sounding 000-18 I have ever had. It is full and beautifully balanced, with surprisingly robust low end and wonderful, almost piano-like sustain. It has a nice chunky neck that feels substantial in the hand.
The guitar has been fully serviced and needs nothing. The neck angle is excellent, as is the action, and it plays beautifully.
The neck, back, and sides are crack-free. The top has only one pickguard crack—an unfortunately common issue on vintage Martins of this era due to shrinkage of the original celluloid guard over the years. We carefully removed and re-glued the original pickguard to relieve the tension and help prevent additional cracks from developing around its edges.
Construction is classic vintage Martin: old-growth mahogany back, sides, and neck with a solid spruce top. It also features Brazilian rosewood for the fingerboard, bridge, and headstock veneer. These are extraordinary materials by modern standards and would be extremely costly to duplicate in a newly built guitar today.
It comes in its original Bull’s Head case and will be packed very carefully for shipping.
