Up for sale is this beautiful 1966 Gibson L-5 CES. The guitar sports the original finish with no cracks, breaks, or crack repairs. It has a 1.636 nut width, placing it above the typical “transitional” or “skinny” nut from most post-1965 made Gibsons.
The previous owner purchased this from Gruhn years ago. They did a partial refret.
The neck profile is a medium slim Oval-C shape. It is not a fat or chunky neck, but not a razor blade either. It comes with the original case. The previous owner changed the pickup covers, but the original covers are in the case and can be easily reinstalled (I can do that for you if you want). They have modest fading but nothing terrible. The original guard gassed off. A new guard was made utilizing the original binding—it looks just like a vintage example.
