1951 fender champion lap steel. It looks to be all original, except for the mounting screws for the knobs which are oversized. The knobs are original, and match up nicely to a similar style in the “black guard book” for 1951.
Most folks know that one cool feature of these lap steals is that they contain many parts that are also used on early black guard fenders. The pots are the same. The pickup also is essentially a telecaster pick up with a slightly different base. many of the screws are also used on both instruments. I don’t suggest parting this out, the common parts add value to these. It sounds really good. The hinges have broken on the original chipboard case so it’s taped together.
