Very early 1969 Les Paul Custom. Pretty much all 1968 specs on this guy: long neck tenon, no volute, no made in USA stamp, etc. One piece body and one piece neck. Pots are just barely into 1969. With a Maple top underneath the ebony finish, these guitars are as close as you’re going to get to a 1950s Les Paul without mortgaging your house.

Neck carve is fat. It’s .910 right behind the first fret and gets fatter from there.

This one is in excellent to near mint condition and comes with a very rare Les Paul Custom Quality control tag (try finding one of those...). The original owner played it for a brief period and then left it in its case for the better part of the next 50 years. It is this in what we can fairly call excellent to near mint condition with incidental play wear (very minor marks on the body and scratches on the pick guard). To be clear: excellent or near mint guitar is different from a near new guitar. A new guitar has never been touched and is absolutely pristine. I meant guitar is one that has been played or handled a few times but has a good chunk of the original accessories in the case. An excellent to near meant guitar shows a tad more play wear, but is at the top of the heap as far as the vintage condition goes.

Only “issue“ is that the selector switch doesn’t like to stay in the treble or rhythm positions. If you remove the switch tip, it stays in place fine. When the switch is on, he doesn’t like to stay in place and will snap to the middle position. I will include a shortened repro switch tip that gets around this issue.
