Check out the video demo for an in hand description, and for a taste of the sounds.

The guitar has signs of use and for good reason: this thing sounds incredible!  You would never guess it was a small-bodied Martin when you strum it and hear the sounds. It has a very nice and balanced tone with plenty of low end, especially for the smaller size. Obviously it’s not a dreadnought, but a very full sounding small-bodied guitar.

The guitar has been fully serviced, and is ready to play. This includes a neck reset, bridge reglue, refret, and new bone saddle and nut. All the needed bridge work and neck angle work has been done. Keep in mind that this servicing is usually not done on 00–18 models.  For a long time they were considered lower end “student“ models, although that has changed as people have begun to appreciate the utility and beautiful sound of smaller bodied Martins. This full amount of work can run you as much as 1200 – $1500 so please keep that in mind.  Sometimes you can find these on the cheap, but that’s usually because they need a good amount of servicing.

The body and neck are crack free.  As mentioned above, it has wear from normal use over its almost 60 year life.  The tuners have been changed as the originals were open back and more prone to get “finicky” due to their exposure to the elements. If you want to restore them to the original style, you would just need to order some conversion bushings from StewMac along with a reissue set of vintage style tuners. The only other thing to note is that there is a small “smudge“ to the finish just to the left of the bridge. See close-up photo.

It comes with the vintage case you see in the photos.
