Up for sale is this killer 1964 Fender Stratocaster with an old Fiesta Red body refinish.
The guitar has just been a refretted and Professionally set up. It is ready to go and play right out of the case.
First, some of the highlights. The guitar has a fabulous medium neck profile. By this time Fender had somewhat increased the thickness of the necks which got quite slim at times in the early 1960s. By no means a baseball bat but a comfortable medium C.
The guitar still sports its original black bottom pickups. Two of them have the yellow date stamp code you see introduced sometime early in 1964. One pickup lacks the stamp but it is totally normal to see a mixture of stamped and non-stamped pickups in this year. Two of the pick ups had to be rewound, as they were dead. The bridge pickup still has the original windings. The tone pots are also original, but the volume pot was changed somewhere along the way. It still has the original three-way switch. The guard and plastics are also original.
Many years ago, the guitar had a body refinish in Fiesta Red. It has nicely aged and “pinked out” in a couple areas. I think it looks killer. The neck finish appears original although the decal is a repro.
It’s still has the original single line tuners, except for the high E tuner, which is a double line from about a year later.
It comes in a vintage case from a little later in the decade. The case has some issues, but it works. Two of the latches are missing and one hinge on the back is loose. You should be able to restore it if you’d like. I will make sure it’s taped shut and secure for shipment.
The guitar will ship worldwide, but I will not falsify a customs form by declaring a lower value. That is customs fraud, and it is illegal. Please do not ask me to do that.
