Up for sale is this player grade 1959 Martin D-28E. The dual pickup Martin dreadnought model and it’s “18” style counterpart were made famous by its use by Kurt Cobain in the famous Nirvana “Unplugged” concert. This D-28 version has lovey bookmatched Brazilian Rosewood back and sides along with an enony fretboard.

The stock electronics all work as intended. It nails Kurt’s tone from that show. The guitar has undergone servicing at different times in his life. It was also used extensively by the previous owners. Several crack repairs have been done which are typical of the model. This includes the area where the knob along with the output jack. At one point the guitar had a neck reset, but that was done awhile ago. The action was quite low when I took it in, but I had my luthier cut a taller saddle so that the new owner could adjust it to their preference. If I were keeping it I would have it adjusted down a hair and there is more than enough room to do that. There is some touch up to the finish especially by the tone controls on the bottom corner of the top. But the majority of the finish is original. The guard was missing when I took the guitar in so I had a new one custom built. Finally, a long time ago the guitar suffered a headstock crack. Some dowels were used to execute the repair as pictured. It’s currently solid with no issues.

Will ship in a modern hard case.

Ships worldwide but I don’t falsify customs forms.
