1954 Martin D-18
All the heavy-duty servicing has just been completed, including a fresh neck reset, fret level, and bridge reglue.
This guitar has had some other repairs, which I’ll detail below, putting it in the more affordable player-grade range. But I really want to emphasize: in terms of sound and playability, this guitar is fabulous.
If you’re not concerned about repairs and some cosmetic wear, this is definitely a guitar for you. Please check out the full demo video for a sample of the tone—it’s deep and balanced, with strong, resonant lows, clear highs, and a pleasing midrange attack. Everything you’d expect from a classic Martin.
All the major servicing—over $1,000 worth of professional work—has already been done. Here are the additional condition notes:
- Back: Several crack repairs, clearly visible in the photos.
- Side: Small bump near the strap button hole.
- Forearm area: Sustained a good bump at some point and was repaired somewhat amateurly. It’s not the prettiest repair but is fully functional. I’ve left it as-is so you can decide if you’d like to have it redone. There are multiple ways to address it, but none are necessary for the guitar to play and function properly.
- Headstock: Had a split starting around the nut area and extending downward. It wasn’t a deep crack, but it was professionally repaired and is now completely stable with no issues.
Includes aftermarket case.
