1954 Gibson J-45.
Sonically this guitar sounds amazing. It has wonderful sustain, and very nice resonance. It has a full body Gibson tone as you would expect from a golden era acoustic from this company.
Obviously, somewhere along the line a lady likely named “Wanda“ decided to do some folk art on the top near the sound hole and the tongue.
It’s some kind of sparkle/glitter material. It’s likely possible to remove it with some elbow grease but may be best to just leave it.
My guess on the name comes from the ghosts of the letters “WANDA“ on the lower edge of the top.
Apart from this creative, cosmetic modification, the rest of the guitar is really stellar. Although it shows player where the guitar is entirely crack free. The braces are all Solid. The bridge has just been re-glued and it has been given a set up. There is one extra tuner screw hole as the previous owner installed a treble side tuner on the bass side (see photo). An era correct set of single-line klusons are on there now.
Clearly, this guitar in this state isn’t for everyone, but if you’d like a nicely discounted and very solid vintage guitar that is otherwise original and sounds awesome, this may just be the instrument for you.
Comes in a vintage chip board case. I’m not sure on the year, but it may be from the 1960s. Two hinges aren’t working. I pack with great care and make sure it is safe in shipment.
