1948 Martin D-18

This is a fabulous example of a Martin dreadnought from the vintage era. The guitar has been fully serviced with a neck reset, bridge reglue, new saddle, and professional setup. It needs nothing and is ready to play right out of the box.

The tone is very balanced with excellent sustain—exactly what you would expect from a golden-era Martin.

This guitar was previously owned by someone with strong religious convictions, likely of Roman Catholic background. Prior to my ownership, photos of Christ had been taped to the top of the instrument. Thankfully, blue painter’s tape was used, which left no residue or damage to the finish. There is slight “ghosting” where the photos were affixed, but it is not a significant eyesore. In addition, a crucifix was glued to the top and remains attached. It is lifting slightly and could be removed easily. The glue does not appear to be a heavy-duty adhesive and would likely clean up well, though it may leave a visible outline of the cross.

I received the guitar with the crucifix still in place and the photos removed. I will sell it in the same condition, leaving it to the next owner to keep or modify as they see fit.

Note on Condition:
There is finish wear around the headstock caused by a strap that had been tied above the nut and left in place for many years. This is cosmetic only—there are no cracks, breaks, or structural issues—just wear to the finish in that area.
The photos tell the rest of the story of this instrument—please refer to them for full details on condition. There has been no touch-up or overspray—just typical player wear consistent with its age and use.

The guitar comes with its original chipboard case, which shows significant wear and tear. A modern hard case will also be included for safer shipping.

Shipping:
Shipping costs reflect the use of expedited, overnight air shipment for the guitar itself, along with a separate ground shipment for the additional case. This applies to both domestic and international orders. For international buyers, please note that the cost is higher than usual because it requires two separate shipments—one for the guitar and one for the case—each handled independently to ensure safe transit. International shipments will be sent via UPS expedited service, though final delivery time will depend on the customs process in your country.

I am happy to discuss alternate shipping arrangements or case preferences if you have a different plan in mind. Just reach out—I'm flexible and willing to work with you to ensure a smooth and safe transaction.

Note: the Shopify website has been finicky with shipping rates. If you purchase this guitar, you will agree to pay $325 total for a USA shipment. This would include expedited shipping for the guitar in the hard case. And then an additional shipment with the soft case.

similarly, international shipments will Involve a payment of $425 total for UPS expedited international shipments.

If the Shopify website does not charge you the proper amount at checkout, you are agreeing to pay an invoice for the remainder.  Payment can be made through PayPal, Zelle, Venmo, or through this website via a separate listing for the additional shipping costs.
